A Map of Writing's Defining Terms

  1. The production of my map successfully fulfills two of Rose's modalities. The technology behind my map can be recognized by its noticeable construction using a computer program, and its ability to travel digitally through the blog, making it accessible wherever one can access the internet. As for Rose's compositional modality, my map uses colored text and arrows, and pictures to visually characterize the terms I've chosen. There is spatial organization, though I feel the distances between the arrows do not accurately portray the connection between each term.

If I were to roughly fill out Shipka's SOGC,
    1. My map is a tool to lead the viewer on a unique road of description about writing. The ideal viewer would be a student or academic of some level looking to view writing with a different perspective.

    2. I used the pre-downloaded paint feature on my laptop, pasting images from Google and using the pre-made shapes loaded already within program. I tried to find pictures that successfully communicated my terms in the context I was applying to my unique definition of writing. The map uploaded much larger than I intended, but works in a way that allows the blog reader to see most of the images without having to be inches away from the screen. It also doesn't quite fit into the blog posting box well. I intend to reshape the map so it fits on the page vertically.

    3. Through this project I'm hoping to encourage the reader to step away from the traditional view of writing and present great things that come out of writing through its process and final product. I wanted to do something different than just "Complex" in a circle with a line coming out of it to another circle saying "Communicative." Using Google images may not be the most creative idea, but I felt it gave the words a nice pop and gave the reader a telling image to tie to the term.

    4. The internet as well as the "Paint" feature on my laptop helped me accomplish the creation of an interesting and informative map about my writing key terms.
