Journal 1

I personally believe that there is no defined answer to the question ‘What is writing.’ Writing itself is different for all types of people. To me writing can be a form of expressing myself, getting a point across, or telling a story. To others writing can be a form of sending a message, or conveying information. Overall writing cannot be tied down to one definition, but in the end it is a way of communication for all people through different forms. Writing can connect all different people in a way that no other forms of communication can. Writing sparks knowledge and in my mind is a form of hope for everyone.

Audience: In every form of writing there is always an audience. The audience is the first step in creating a piece or text. Without knowing your audience or knowing who you are writing for then the text will not be successful in the way the author wants it to be.

Creation: No matter what type of genre an author is writing in they are always creating a work of art, piece, or text that helps them get their point across. This creation becomes something they are proud of, and the final product is what makes the work worth it.

Emotions: To me emotions are a large part in writing. Without having passion or any connections for the text there isn’t a reason for putting so much hard work into it.

Education: Education has a huge impact on writing. For as long as I remember I have been writing in school. Education is where I learned the basic skills of writing and its where my love for writing comes from. Writing sparks knowledge and creativity which helps with the growth of education. I believe that writing is the basis of all education because writing and reading is involved in all forms of education.

Information: Overall the most important word that comes to mind with writing for me is information. All forms of writing have some sort of information in them and help spread the author’s point of view. Writing communicates information in a way that most other forms of language cannot.
