Theory of Composing Round II

After reflecting on my artist statement and the peer review, I have collected that writing and composing is an extremely creative process and unique to each person. There is a lot of artistic direction set in composing that differs amongst individuals. Composing enables us to express our creativity and channel our imaginations. We are able to generate ideas and expand on them. Writing can be used for a universal amount of things like artistic purpose, informative, legal, medical, academic, entertainment, etc. It can be private or public which is one of the most powerful aspects of writing. It can also be used to share amongst friends, families, and the general population or written for personal and sentimental purpose. The most important part about writing is that there is an infinite amount of opportunities to enhance and sharpen our skills and grow as artist.
The 5 key terms I would assign to what it means to write and compose are:
1.Intent- Writing usually has and needs a purpose in order to make sense of the information that is being expressed. Without intent, there would be no direction.
2.Creativity- Writing allows us to be creative and make/learn new things. It can make reading enjoyable when the language being used is artistic and unique.
3. Language- What we write and how we write it differs amongst genre choice and intention.
4. Structure- How we organize and construct our words on the page is crucial for our writing. If not, our writing would have no direction or be clear for the audience to follow.
5. Audience- Who are we trying to engage and attract?
6. Communication- Writing is very helpful in bringing people together. It is a way to reach out to others. It is also a way to communicate with ourselves and understand who we are.

I’ve incorporated these terms in my prior writing and composing. After working on this project, I’ve gotten a better understanding of the importance of the roles that structure and audience have on writing and the composing process. It’s easier to have an intentional audience to organize the text and develop it.
