I think that writing and composing is a long process with
many moving parts. Especially after completing this project, it is easy to see
why we need to take more than one key term into account when creating a piece.
You can’t understand how to write without taking who you are writing for into
consideration and that was something that I had to really focus on during my
project, especially because that was my term. With that being said, we also had
to think about the genre that we would make our project altogether and what
would best fit the audience we were trying to reach while also taking into
account the creative ability of our exhibits. Circulation is interesting within
my project specifically because of the person I chose to use as the focal point
of my piece. Khloe Kardashian would really be nothing if it weren’t for
circulation and networking. Circulation is a huge part of everything she does
because social media makes viewing images of her, watching her on TV, and
looking at her clothing lines online are all easily accessible to us all the
time. These also play into her ability to Network. Because her brand is so
easily accessible, networking it is so insanely easy.
Something that stood out to me was that, while writing, we
accomplish many of these things subconsciously. I have spent the last two years
of my life writing for the FSU chapter of The Odyssey. I create material weekly
that is directed at certain audiences (i.e. college students, FSU students,
women, the Greek Community, Daughters, mothers, etc). I create an ideal
audience without even realizing it and then create material based on that view
point. I also don’t realize how much social media helps with my ability to get
shares and page views. People can easily share my link and then a whole circle
of people are able to read my article within minutes, which also becomes my
ability to Network. If my works were printed, it would be much more difficult for
people to access.
I think that some key terms to writing are audience, voice,
tone, style, exigency, network, circulation, and design.
