The two
examples of assemblage that I thought of were the bible and a sandwich. I feel
that a sandwich falls into the Arola and Arola definition of bare assemblage. A
sandwich is a great example of assemblage because it a lot of different
ingredients thrown in together to make a finished product. When I think of a
good sub I think of it having meat, veggies, bread, and some sauces. This could
be compared to some of the music that was discussed in the article we had to
read. The music had different types of musical sounds and genres in it, much
like how a sub has different ingredients from different food groups. Like the
different parts of the music, the ingredients of a sub are capable of standing
alone on their own, but can still come together to create a finished product.
The bible
comes off more as ethical assemblage. The bible is definitely a great example
of assemblage. It takes various different, stories, books, and authors and
lumps them all together to create one big book. The bible tells a story, but
also gives out a lot of moral and ethical guidelines to live by and abide by. All
these stories, letters, and parables in the bible were put in their for a
reason to share the good news. This is what makes it an example of ethical assemblage.
I do
believe that circulation could effect ethical assemblage because with
circulation the work could get portrayed or misunderstood in all the different
ways it is being circulated. When this happens the original ethical or moral
lesson or beliefs being brought out in it could change through circulation.
