Journal Entry #5

Writing is a means through communication with language with the recording of signs and symbols. Composing is to create something, whether it be music, poetry, etc. Both of those enable us to express our thoughts. They give us the opportunity to share how we feel with others, and gives us the opportunity to record something for us to keep.

Because of my experience of growing up with the opportunities to write things down, it has given me the understanding of what these terms are used for. I write things down to remember them for myself, or to share them with others; so because I have used writing for those purposes, that has shown me what ways writing and composing can be used.

While writing and/or composing, I think of the terms: language (method of communication through words), style (the way a writer writes; his/her characteristics of writing) , audience (the people an author is writing to/addressing), communication (how the author expresses his/her point), expression(how the author is making known of his/her thoughts), and delivery (how the author is presenting his/her idea).
