Journal 5

Writing is a way to express a story or to get something across to an audience that it was previously unknown to. It enables for me or the writer to express themselves or to teach the audience something. Most of my previous experiences with writing are through education settings of expressing why I did something or analyzing another text. I have had a few experiences of personal writing that as previously stated allowed me to express myself and teach my audience something that I wanted them to know about me or the subject that I am writing. The terms I think of when I am composing are audience, expression, design, recording, thoughts, experience and story. When I had previously written a eulogy, I was telling a story of the person who had passed and sharing in my experience with the audience of the person that was gone. Some of the stories I told were of my personal experience and I was therefore expressing them with my audience. When writing papers, I focus on the design of the paper to ensure that my words are articulated well and that the point I am trying to make is coming in clear. My thoughts come into play because it is hard to record thoughts sometimes due to the mind not always being able to articulate the words that I want to express. Once again, the audience comes into play because usually I am being asked to analyze a subject and the I want to make sure I do well on the subject because the audience is going to be the professor that is going to be giving me a grade on the outcome. Taking into example this last project that we created, I considered every term I define for writing. First, I thought about how I wanted to portray my artifacts and then had to decide the way of expressing them and the purpose I wanted behind it. My audience came into thought by who I wanted to appreciate my project and have interest in it. My design was my biggest concern because I wanted to design it in a creative way and I always wanted to interest my audience. My experiences with my artifacts is also the reason I decided to do it and I had to record all the information I had found.
