Journal Five

This project challenged me as someone who is not great with words and their meanings to think outside of the box. With the word audience, I already had a solid understanding of it as a theatre major so trying to open my mind up to any other understanding was difficult but in the end very rewarding. I began seeing things like twitter and FSU memorabilia as a way to engage an audience and not something for the author or owner. If I had more time to do this project I would have gone to the design lab sooner and figure out how I could use canva.com to my advantage when it comes to print, because although it’s great as an online document taking it to print has been very difficult. I wanted the articles to conjoin and fold into one another but because the layout was one page at a time instead of multiple articles on one large spread, I was hindered. I would say this project was similar to an academic essay when it comes to researching sources and backing up my artifacts with reasoning. I would have liked to just picked my artifacts and not had to explain them but making me do so challenged me to make another see through my eyes. I enjoying the artistic parts of this project like selecting images and stickers for my articles much more than the academic sides of the project because I am more of a creative personality than a calculating academic one. I love the design I’ve chosen for this project and I don’t think I would change that in another round of editing, but I would attempt to  change the formatting when it goes to print without hurting or compromising the design.
When writing I think the five terms I most referred to were
1. Audience
2. Genre
3. Design
4. Understanding
5. Easy
