Final Map

The words that are central to my theory of composing are audience, context, and purpose (exigence). These key terms are driven by the urge or need to share, to compose for someone outside of yourself, which is I think the central root of composition. We don't usually compose for ourselves, we always have something or someone in mind that we want to receive our ideas and creations. I tried to explain this in my map, which is more of a paragraph.

I chose to work with images, and words. I used the words to explain and the images as examples that bolstered my words, and also as part of the word flow itself. This allowed me to be creative and fun while also conveying information that might otherwise be dry.

I made meaning explicitly by telling the audience straightforward what my definition of composing was. I'm sure they will still be confused, because it wasn't explained too in-depth, but it is much more clear than if I had done a visual map. It's linear.

I'm not sure how I will integrate this theory of composing into my ePortfolio. I may post images of my map, or creating a personal statement expressing my feelings on composing and how it's important to my life and my career goals.
