Project 3:
Many of the individual teams created very different texts
for very different organizations, but somehow the processes that most of them
used were incredibly similar. Many teams, from those working with animal
rescues to others working with local businesses, focused heavily on audience.
That is because audience informs everything about the creation as well as the
circulation of a text. If a group wanted to reach young people, like my group
did, they created texts that could be circulated on social media. Other groups
that wanted to reach a more general audience created things like flyers that
could be found in public places. Audience was imperative to this project as a
whole. Circulation was also very important to many groups in creating their
texts. Most groups designed their texts to be eye-catching and deliberate so
that they would reach as many people as possible.
Many teams were constrained
by time as well as the responsiveness of their organization. Because the
project was so short term many groups did not have time to properly circulate
their texts. I am grateful that my team’s organization was so responsive during
this project! That made it simpler to understand the organization’s needs and
the kinds of texts that they could use to meet those needs. Overall I think all
of the groups were able to create texts that made their campaign successful.
There were constraints, sure, but every group created texts for their
organization and completed the work on time. Plus, some even made cupcakes,
which really appealed to us in the audience.
After watching the presentations
the only thing I wish my team had done was to make more for our organization.
Everything we made together for the organization was great, but we wanted to as
much as possible. But time did not allow us to do everything we wanted, so we
did what we could. I was impressed by how much some of the other teams were
able to accomplish, like designing t-shirts and making videos. I just wish we
had made the time to create more. But, our organization is so great that we
might just keep helping them anyway!
