Take Aways

Two things that I've learned in this class when it comes to the terms rhetoric, audience and circulation, is the importance of the authors such as Bitzer, and Edbauer and how they present this information. Through reading Bitzer, I can get a understanding of the rhetorical situation and why exigence and audience and circulation plays a major role. A rhetor is someone who is constantly trying to communicate knowledge and persuade there audience. Exigence is more of being a call to action; more like a response. On the other hand Edbauer, defines rhetorical situations as structures of feelings, or a process, being more than a call to action.
It's an ecological view of circulation that troubles the traditional understanding of rhetorical situation, because the constant circulation of texts makes it difficult to isolate composer, audience, and exigence from the environment at large. Overall, Rhetorical circulation theorizes the ways that ideas and text moves through time and space.
