Journal 8 Kelly Ramirez

It was so amazing to see all the group present! From the peers in my class, to the ones in the other section, I loved getting to hear everyone apply the concepts we have learned in class to an array of organizations, causes, and social issues. Each team seemed to follow the process of consulting and collaboration. Before taking any action to compose, each team consulting each other or their organization to see how their services could best serve their audience. Then, they collaborated (acting on everyone's strengths and weaknesses) to compose a digital campaign. The most common keywords of composition that I noticed were audience, design, and circulation. First they saw the needs of an audience, designed a text to best transmit a message, and then found methods of circulation to inform or spread awareness. This process is what helped to compose a successful campaign.
Something I really learned from the other groups were methods to measure the effectiveness of our text. When composing tangible texts, such as flyers, I did not think there could ever be an accurate way to know how many people had engaged. However, many groups used the pull tab flyers as a method of measuring effectiveness and audience interaction. I would definitely apply this concept to any flyers or posters I create in the future. Another thing I would do next time is talk to the community our group served. We mainly only had contact with the coordinator and she told us what was needed. I think getting the perspective of someone who benefits from the organization's services would be critical in understanding and filling in the gap between communication with an audience and organization.

Ahhhh, last journal! Good luck on finals and have a great summer!
