Journal 8

After watching the group presentations, I firmly believe that all of the groups used a multitude of course keywords but paid more attention to some than others. A few reoccurring keywords that I saw were executed the best by all groups were circulation/distribution, audience, and materiality. The materiality aspect changed by each group but despite what the artifacts were, they were all successful in delivering the messages of the organizations/businesses that the groups were working with. My group had the greatest deal of success from focusing on the keywords of circulation and audience. As far as planning and creating the campaigns, most of the teams had a similar plan that consisted of talking to someone at their organization about their needs, developing a plan, creating the artifacts, and distributing them. This seems like it was the most effective and sensible process for most of the teams.

Many of the groups did not discuss their constraints but in the feedback to our presentation I noticed a lot of people discussed how communication between organization/business and the groups would get tricky from time to time. Again, the use of keywords and their integration into the planning of the campaign is what made all of these work so well. By focusing on the who (audience), the how (circulation), and the what (materiality) all groups were able to deliver messages that effectively communicated the goals and wants of the individual organizations/businesses.

After seeing all of the other groups present, there are certain artifacts such as t-shirts, business cards, and Facebook headers that I think could have worked very well for Last Hope Rescue. I like the mobility and accessibility of materials such as those. I can’t say I would change much about our campaign because we did see a positive outcome and turnout from what we were able to come up with. I like to think that if Rebecca, their social chair, had the opportunity to be a little more accessible to communicate and work through ideas with we could have had more polished and professional artifacts. Apart from that, I think all of the groups, including my own, did a great job at creating successful campaigns for all these organizations.
