Project 3 Reflections
Project 3 taught me a lot about group work, collaboration and the
terms we focused on in class. It had been a while since I had to work with an
outside organization for academic purposes. Because of this, I was nervous to
do this project. Although I was skeptical, this project was enjoyable and I
gained a lot of skills in the process.
Despite my uneasiness with presenting, I was glad that it was
required for project 3. I enjoyed being able to see and hear about the
experience my peers endured during the process of composing. It was interesting
to learn how different people are in their designing and composing processes. I
noticed how much of every groups creative direction was influenced by the
audience, the medium, and the circulation. It reminded me of our composing maps
that we’ve done in class and how relative the terms I’ve used and that others
have used are when analyzing everyone’s presentations. In almost every group,
the audience, along with the organization itself, was the main source of
direction for the text. All of the
groups did a wonderful job at keeping in focus the needs and wants of each
assigned organization. I also noticed that most of the texts created in each
group were posters and social media platforms. I think this is mainly due to
circulation and networking effects. It shows me that we all have some sort of
common knowledge about different media that is effective to reach an audience.
It’s difficult to pin point ways that our group did things
differently. Majority of the presentations were done orally and presented on
website or power points. I think what our group could have done differently is
differing the genre of our media. Our three text were mostly digital and hard
copy. It would have been cool to do something hands on and tangible like a
video, T-shirt design, etc.
