Takeaways

What I have gathered from looking at the grid is that the authors we have discussed in class are split between their thoughts on what to write about and how to write it, and where to post it. Rhetoricians like Bitzer, Estrem, and Rose all focus on how to write a piece of work. Highlighting things like how to persuade, how to write in order to appeal to your target audience, and the importance of genre. On the other side, rhetoricians such as Shipka, Wysocki, and Shepherd focus on where to write. They take into consideration how 21st century technology has changed writing and tell us new ways that we should adapt to them. Such as, posting on blogs, stressing the importance of layout and design, and how to write in different forms such as social media posts and blogs. My question that still remains is what is the difference between what the author intends to write and what the audience interprets the writing as? Is there an interpretation that is "correct"?
