Journal 7

  • Writing is something that must be done physically, whether it is on a computer or written down in a type of medium. Editing is a change or a fix in something, sometimes writing but not always. To edit something means that it is in a draft and still not in final stages of completion. Composing, can be done physically or mentally. It is to create or invent something that could eventually be seen by others. An essay is composed just as a music score is composed.

  • Rhetoric, medium, exigence, design, constraints. I now know the different stresses my writing or whatever I'm composing, are under. Every minute detail that is part of my creation has meaning and can negatively or positively affect someone else who views it.
  • How have your experiences with project two shaped your definitions? I know that the key terms have different meaning depending on what medium you are using, print, digital, or something else.
  • I didn't know much about these key terms before I came to this class. I knew the basics but this class has taught me that there is much more you don't see in writing or composing or even the way someone speaks and the language they use.
  • Composing doesn't have to be physical, it can occur in your head first and then you can create it in the real world. I realized this because sometimes I plan everything I'm going to do or say for a project in my head before I even write it down.
