Journal Entry

I would define writing/composing as the act of creating something, written or typed, that is unique to each person. Composing is slightly different because it can be more than just writing words on a page, which is interesting. Each enables someone to create something by putting words together to make a larger whole. Writing gives you the ability to put your thoughts into something that you can share with other people in a way other than speaking it aloud. My past experiences with writing have impacted my understanding of these terms because I have realized how unique writing actually is. It is very difficult to find someone who writes exactly as you do, unless it is plagiarized. Whether it be the handwriting or the thoughts on the paper it is impossible to truly replicate someone else's work without trying. Writing gives each person the ability to leave something unique behind on this earth that people will read for years to come. I think of key terms such as context, tone, individuality, flow, and audience. I find that these all apply deeply to my writing because they are all so important when I am writing something. I take each of these into consideration so that I am able to best produce a piece that people will enjoy reading and have an understanding of.
